Kids of all ages need to go outdoors and learn from nature

Planning is underway for a nearly-end-of-school outing to the Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge for a passel of third graders from Aikman Elementary in May.For the kids, it will be a chance to get outside and away from that darned classroom in the countdown to the end of school.

LADY WHITEFACES HOST DUMAS

Hereford’s Whitefaces topped Dumas 9-6 Friday at home but fell 7-3 Tuesday at Canyon. The Whitefaces (5-2 in district play) remain in the thick of the district playoff race with Canyon (6-- 1) in first and West Plains (5-1) in second place. Hereford and Randall are tied for third at 5-2.

WTRT names new CEO Alonzo; Christian, Olson re-elected

Two unopposed candidates were elected to new terms on the board of directors and Stephanie Alonzo was introduced as the new CEO with the retirement of CEO Scott Hickok at the 71st membership meeting of West Texas Rural Telephone Cooperative the evening of March 24 at the Hereford Civic Center.
