Don’t stop knocking

Then he spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart. (Luke 18:1) I was in the back room of my house one day when I heard a knock at my front door. Being preoccupied, I was delayed in answering the knock.

Tap, tap, tap came the rap again and again. The person at my door knew I was home so he kept on knocking until I reluctantly extracted myself from my computer and made my way to the front door to answer his persistent knock.

Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” No one knocks once at a door. If you approach a door and know the occupant is home, you might knock with four or five taps and wait. If the door is not opened, you would inevitably knock again.

That’s what prayer is. Prayer is knocking at the door of heaven until the Lord Almighty, who hears your knock, opens the door to your request. And your Father who is in heaven gives good things to those who ask him. He will open the door. Jesus went on to say, “To him who knocks it will be opened.”

Never give up on prayer in your life. Prayer is the gateway to Father’s heart. Abba Father loves my prayers as much as I love it when my children chat with me. It may appear that things don’t change when you pray but never stop asking, seeking, and knocking. Jesus once told a parable of a widow who sought judgment from a certain judge, but the judge did not respond to her. However, because she persisted in her appeal to him, he finally answered her call.

Have confidence in the Lord your God. Pray without ceasing and do not lose heart. It may seem that God has not heard your knock, but he has. His ways are not like our ways and his thoughts are not like our thoughts. God’s timing is always perfect. So, don’t stop knocking.
