Monty Lee Brewer

Monty Lee Brewer 1938-2026

had a tough life growing up in challenging circumstances but despite it all cherished memories of the good times and lessons learned. At just eleven years old he began working his first job for $2.00 a day and a hamburger doing farm work for his cousin Cecil. He learned to do many things over time some of which were bailing hay, earth moving, building ponds and terraces around Mountain Park.

He met the love of his life at a dance hall in Snyder Oklahoma where they cut a rug and cleared the room as people gathered around to watch the dynamic duo dance and he married Gladys Brewer on August 30, 1958. They moved to Eunice NM and he worked in the oil field for some time then moved to Texas and started farming two sections of land and later became a farm hand on what we refer to as the Walker place where he was given a truck of tools and a tractor as a bonus and started custom farming. He learned welding and became proficient at millwright work and started M.L Brewer Millwright.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 56 years at the time of her death, Gladys Brewer, son, Tab Brewer, Brother Kenny Brewer, three grandsons, Bruce Lee Brewer, Kale Brewer and Jonathan Lee Brewer.

Surviving family members are a son, Roy Brewer, Daughter, Melissa “Missy” Miller and husband Kirk; Grandkids, Scottie Brewer and wife Amanda, Jacob Brewer, Ryan Barker- Brewer and wife Summer, Justin Brewer, Tabitha Story and husband Lance, Kayla Treadway and husband Trace, Chanel Brown, Kody Miller & Slate Miller. Nineteen great grandchildren and five Greatgreat grands; two brothers Mickey Hoefer, Ronnie Brewer and wife Becky, two sisters Carole Neptune, Diane Atchley and husband Mike and many cousins, nieces and nephews and a town full of friends.

Monty was a member of the Elks Lodge and Avenue Baptist Church, He had a deep love for fishing and found joy in the simple things in life. He often woke early to grab a cup of coffee and drive the back roads taking in the beauty of wildlife and Gods creations. Yep, even getting stuck in the mud a time or two (he did get out)!

Monty will be remembered for his hard work, his love for his family and the life he built through perseverance and dedication, his wealth of knowledge and his wittiness.
