Morris

Jerry Dean Morris was born on March 30, 1945, in Hereford, Texas to Claude Lee and Anita Willis Morris, and passed away in Richmond, Virgina, on Nov. 14, 2024.

Raised in Dimmitt, Texas, Jerry was a graduate of Dimmitt High School and continued his education at Texas Tech University where he was a proud member of the Saddle Tramps and the Raider Red mascot, before earning his master’s degree from Southern Methodist University.

After college, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and then later in the Coast Guard Reserves. After his service in the Air Force, he moved to Dallas, to work with the City of Dallas before transitioning to corporate training.

He loved to dance, was quick to tell a joke or story and he never met a stranger. A kind soul, he was always eager to lend a helping hand, whether to a friend or a stranger in need.

Heis survived by his beloved wife, Linda; his daughters, Holly Raidabaugh (husband Adam and son JD) and Carrie Carpenter (husband Dwayne and son Ezra). A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 in Richmond. In loving memory, we celebrate Jerry’s life and the love he shared with all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
