Andres “Andy VCR” “Mighty Fine” Ontiveros, Sr., aged 86, of Amarillo, Texas, the last 4 years, but formerly of Hereford, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, with Celebrant Shane Wieck officiating. Following the service, burial will take place at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Arrangements and services are under the care of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 3:008:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Andres was born on February 4, 1939, in Lasara, Texas, to Rafael and Cecilia (Ontiveros) Ontiveros. He became a resident of Hereford in the 1970s, where he spent many years contributing to the local community.
During his professional life, Andres worked for Hereford Grain and Frito Lay for several years, dedicating his efforts to supporting these organizations and building relationships with
his colleagues.
Andres had a variety of interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He enjoyed watching western movies and listening to music. He was known for his fondness for junk food and regularly watched the rosary mass on television. Andres also appreciated staying active by taking walks, working out, and engaging in games like dominoes and cards.
Above all, Andres cherished his family. Spending quality time with loved ones and friends was his greatest passion. He was always the life of the party, bringing joy and warmth to every gathering. His legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness will be remembered by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Ramona Segovia and husband Manuel, Sr., Andres Ontiveros, Jr., and wife Celia all of Amarillo, Texas, Amelia Van and husband Jerry of Hereford, Texas, Ramiro Ontiveros of Amarillo, Texas, Fernando Ontiveros and wife Roxann of Hereford and Miguel Ontiveros, Sr. and wife Krystal of Amarillo; 22 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Andres is preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children Francisca Pesqueda Ontiveros, 6 siblings and 6 great grandchildren.
