Ricky “Rick” Bagwell, 65, a lifelong resident of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023, in Dimmitt. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, Nov.11, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt, with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan officiating. Burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas. A visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rick was born on Dec. 31, 1957, in Dimmitt, to Milton and Sandra (Neumayer) Bagwell. Rick attended and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1976. He began farming with his dad and brother and has since been a successful and longtime farmer. Rick and his brother also raised registered Maine Anjou cattle.

He was a past member of Young Farmers and a present member of the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt. Rick loved farming, hunting, fishing, playing farming games on his computer with his nieces and nephews, and was a daredevil on his motorcycle. He adored all his pets, which included a badger, a prairie dog, a hog-nosed snake, and a few cats and dogs along the way.

Rick was close to his family, especially with his brother Randy. They hada very close bond with each of thenieces and nephews and always made it a point to make Christmas “Special” for all the kids, buying each one of them gifts and using their creative wrapping skills to make sure they all had a wrapped gift under the tree for Christmas. These cherished moments will be missed by all who loved Rick dearly.

Those left to cherish his memories are his siblings, Steve Bagwell and his wife Anita of Ft. Worth, Texas, Randy Bagwell of Littleton, Colorado, Scott Bagwell and his wife Carolyn of Shallowater, Texas, Carol Horner of Childress,Texas, Kyle Bagwell and his wife Sandy of Lubbock, Texas, and Shellie Collins and her husband Kyle of Dimmitt, Texas; his other mother, Gainell Bagwell of Dimmitt; seven nephews, Royce Moyers, T.J. Moyers, Eric Bagwell, Austin Bagwell, Ian Bagwell, Jaxtyn Bagwell, and Cody Collins; four nieces, Heather Johnson, Hayley Bagwell, Jessica Jackson, and Carolyn Balderaz; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and two aunts, Nelda Fallwell and Nancy Coyte.
