Memorial service for Brandon Keith Cox, Age 59, of Lazbuddie, Texas, is scheduled for 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Trinity Christian Center in Muleshoe, Texas with Reydon Stanford of Muleshoe officiating. He died on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
Brandon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, was born May 14, 1966, to Lynn and Sharon Cox. A lifelong resident and proud third-generation farmer, Brandon lived and worked on the same land that once belonged to his grandfather, carrying on a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for the land.
Brandon married the love of his life, Valerie Cox, on August 11, 1993, and together they built a life rooted in faith, perseverance, and deep devotion to their family. Over more than three decades together, their marriage endured life’s greatest joys and its deepest sorrows, always strengthened by their faith and commitment to one another.
Brandon was a devoted father to five children: Leslee Brown and husband Brandon Brown; Shelby Shields and husband Tyler Shields; Dallas Cox; Houston Cox; and Joshua Cox. He loved Leslee and Shelby as his own daughters and cherished the family they built together.
One of the greatest heartbreaks of his life was the loss of his son Dallas in 2015, but Brandon carried his son’s memory in his heart every day. He was a proud and playful grandfather to seven grandchildren: Caden, Blyane, Braylee, Dustin, Landon, Braylynn, and Carter. Brandon had a beautiful relationship with each of them. Whether playing cards, dominoes, working puzzles, or spending time together, he was known for being a fierce competitor with his children and his “grandloves”—showing absolutely no mercy when it came to winning, something they all laughed about loved him for. Throughout his life Brandon worked in many roles. In addition to farming, he spent several years working in the fertilizer business, more than fifteen years in the parts department at John Deere in Muleshoe, and even a season doing mobile home repairs. No matter the job, Brandon was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to help others.
Brandon enjoyed fishing, traveling, and creating unique horseshoe art through welding. He found joy in the simple things— time with family, a good game at the table, and the satisfaction of working with his hands. Above all, Brandon was a man of faith. He read his Bible and devotional daily and held firmly to the truth of God’s word. Through every season of life, he and Valerie stood on the promise of 1 Corinthians 13:4–8, believing that love is patient, love is kind, and that true love never fails. Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Lynn Cox, who passed away on January 1, 2020, and by his beloved son, Dallas Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife, Valerie Cox; his mother, Sharon Cox; his children and their spouses; his grandchildren whom he adored; his sister, Cinnamon Bradley, and her husband Zay; along with many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know him.
The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the incredible care team with Hospice of Lubbock, whose compassion, kindness, and dedication have meant so much during this time.
Brandon’s life was defined by love for his family, dedication to his work, and an unshakable faith in the Lord. His legacy will live on in the family he loved so deeply and in the many lives he touched. “He was my greatest earthly blessing, and loving him for more than three decades was the honor of my life.”
