James A. Buxkemper, 81 of Nazareth, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, in Lubbock.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Arokiaraj Samala, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld, and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary and Vigil Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. at the church.

James A. Buxkemper was born on Nov. 2, 1941, in Slaton, Texas to Clarence Buxkemper and Lucille (Rohmfeld) Buxkemper. James grew up in Slaton and graduated from Slaton High School. He then attended St Mary’s University and ended up graduating from Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He moved to Nazareth in 1966 and began farming on his own up until his retirement. James was a faithful and longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

The Buxkemper family would like to express their appreciation to the Nazareth community for their kindness and thoughtfulness towards James throughout the years as well as their appreciation towards Country View Living for the care provided during his stay.

Those left to cherish his memories are his three brothers, Kevin Buxkemper of Lubbock, Anton Buxkemper and wife Kathy of Lubbock, and Father Clarence Roland of Mexico; nephew, David Buxkemper and wife Gayla of Ransom Canyon; two nieces, Jennifer Booker and husband Jared of Midland, and Emily Kimbro and husband Mike of Austin; along with three great-nephews and two greatnieces.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence, and Lucille Buxkemper.
