Corrine Gallegos 1945-2026

Corrine Gallegos, 80, of Lubbock, Texas, entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on August 1, 1945, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico to Jose and Amalia Madrid.

Ecclesiastes 1:4 reads, “Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.” Corrine left an impression for the generations to come within her family, and those impressions will live on through the memories of her life. At the age of two years old, Corrine lost her mother. Later in life, Corrine’s father, Jose Isabel Madrid married Fermina ‘Minnie’ Madrid and they had eight children. Corrine’s stepmother, ‘Minnie,’ took responsibility and raised her to be the woman she was. Corrine was one of eleven brothers and sisters. She had eight children of her own and was a loving mother to them all. Her children blessed her with twenty- four grandchildren and thirty- six great-grandchildren. She was known as ‘Grandma’ to her grandchildren and ‘Granny’ to her great-grandchildren. In her early years of life, Corrine was busy being a mom and raising her kids to have strong morals and discipline. As the years of motherhood went on, she let her sense of humor shine through. Corrine loved to garden and could grow any-thing from a seed. She was also a crafter. Utilizing the gift of working with her hands, Corrine loved to sew, knit, make ceramics, and paint. She had a creative and artistic mind.

Corrine’s life was rooted in her faith and her love for Jesus was never-ending. One of her favorite quotes to live by was, “This, too, shall pass.” Worry was not something that Corrine was consumed with because she trusted that God would take care of any situation that presented itself. Furthermore, Corrine embraced having a ‘God willing’ attitude.

Those left to carry on her legacy are her children, Kathy Gallegos of Plainview, Texas, Sylvia Miller and husband Cliff of Lubbock, Texas, Vincent Gallegos and his wife Mary of Hereford, Texas, Ralph Gallegos Jr. of Hereford, Texas, Martin Gallegos and his fiancée DeAnna of New Home, Texas, Rosa Dueñes and husband Jerry of Shallowater, Texas, Mary Helen Gallegos of Lubbock, Texas, and Victor Gallegos and wife Destiny of Longview, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; two brothers, Julian Madrid of Santa Rosa, New Mexico, Jose Isabel Madrid Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters, Rita Sanchez of Tecolotito, New Mexico and Marie Bachicha of Santa Rosa, New Mexico.
