Paula Lopez De Garcia, 79 of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 in Hereford at the Hereford Regional Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Niño and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary/Vigil services will begin on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 5 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Paula Lopez was born on Aug. 20, 1941 in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico to Juan Garcia and Paula (Salinas) Garcia. She lived a fulfilling life as a sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Paula was a longtime resident of Dimmitt, where she and her husband have lived since 1970. She loved to cook, it was her passion. She took pleasure in cooking traditional Mexican dishes for her extended family and friends. She cherished looking after her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, bingo, the lottery and playing cards with her companions. She was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and mind of all those she interacted with and met throughout her life. Paula was truly loved by her family and will be deeply missed by her family and friends

Paula is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jose Angel Lopez de Capetillo; her six children, Jose Angel Lopez, Jr., Gloria Hinojosa, Olivia Martinez, Ofelia Ortiz, Gerardo Lopez and Maricela Phillips along with their spouses; her only sister, Alicia Garcia; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

Those who preceded her in death are her parents, Juan and Paula Garcia; along with five brothers, Librado Garcia, Cleto Garcia, Hipolito Garcia, Nicolas Garcia and Jesus Garcia.
