Gail Marie Pankey Davis, 77, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in Hereford. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Danny Logan officiating.
Burial to follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Family and friend visitation will be on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 PM at the funeral home.
Born on May 13, 1948, in Brady, Texas, to James Clyde and Virgie (Wilkinson) Pankey, Gail graduated from Pecos High School.
She later met and married Thomas Edward Davis, the love of her life, on July 20, 1970. Together, they built a wonderful life and a beautiful family. Gail made Hereford her home in 1969 and dedicated 25 years of service as the records clerk for the Hereford Police Department until her retirement.
Gail had a passion for gardening, both vegetables and flowers, and loved to bake. She cherished being called “Mamo” by her beloved grandchildren and had a special fondness for her “wild cats.”
Above all, her greatest joy was her family. Gail’s beautiful smile, sophisticated style, and graceful presence will be deeply missed by all who love her.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Davis; her two sons, Michael Davis and his wife Jamie, and Jake Davis and his wife Rosie, all of Hereford; her five grandchildren, Chelsy Sauceda and her husband Sam, Sara Flores and her husband Kevin, Kaylee Davis, Logan Davis, and JT Davis; her four great-grandchildren, Kayden Arello, Karloine Sauceda, Carson Flores, and Asher Flores; her brother, James Pankey of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents, James Clyde and Virgie Pankey; two brothers, Robert Guess and Steve Pankey; and her sister, Katherine Taylor.
