Jose Garcia Sr. was born on Oct. 5, 1954, in Knox City, Texas to Pedro Gauna Garcia and Rafaela (Arguellez) Garcia. Jose had been a long-time resident of Dimmitt from the age of 14 years old. He attended Dimmitt schools and then he met Sylvia (Gil) Garcia and they were married on Feb. 3, 1971, in Dimmitt. Shortly thereafter, Jose began his trucking business known as Jose Garcia Custom Hauling and Trucking which now is known as Jose Garcia Trucking. He worked for many farmers and co-op gins throughout the county for many years. While he was hauling and driving many miles, he was called the “Texas Eagle” throughout the country from his fellow truckers. He had a special place in his heart for his truck drivers and they were just a part of his family as well.

Jose enjoyed fishing, hunting travelling, sightseeing, antique and fast cars while also listening to music. His greatest enjoyment was cooking out and spending quality time with his family who he loved so very much.
