Edwin “Ed” Dean Harris, 70 of Dumas, died on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, at Crossroads Country Church, 14425 FM 1541 South Washington in Amarillo with Bob Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt, Texas at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Ed was born on Dec. 2, 1953, in Childress, Texas to Jakie and Anita Harris. He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1972. He began working for Cargill and earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University in 2002. He worked at Valero for many years and retired as a process control engineer in 2020. He loved watching and playing sports.
He married Debbie Ringo on July 5, 1975, in Canyon, Texas at the W.T. Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jennifer Catrice Harris in 1992; and a sister, Raelyn Wright Ed is survived by his wife, Debbie Harris of Dumas; a son, Jason Harris and wife Dondi of Weatherford, Texas; four sisters, Elaine Osbment of Pueblo, Colorado, Melynda Woolford of Ocala, Florida, MaryAnn Pinkerton, and Lisa Bailey, both of Plainview; a brother, Justin Ogden of Plainview; and four grandchildren, Jaydon, Gunner, Hope, and Holden.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
