Horace Andy “Hank” Lynn passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at home on Dec. 2, 2020.

Hank was born to Jack and Madgie Lynn in Albany, Oklahoma, on Sept. 30, 1932. He was the big brother to six siblings. Hank graduated from Wright City, Oklahoma, High School in 1950 and worked in the sawmill to help support the family. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served seven total years at several posts around the US.

After Hank’s discharge from active duty, he attended and graduated from Southeastern State College in Durant, Oklahoma. He taught and coached for 38 years in Blue, Oklahoma; on the Zuni Indian Reservation in Gallup, New Mexico; in Petersburg and Silverton, Texas, and finally for 28 years in Dimmitt, Texas.

While in Petersburg, Hank met the love of his life, Sydna McLaurin, also a teacher at the local school. They were married on June 10, 1967, and were blessed with three children, Kelly, Leandy and LuCydne. They raised the family in Dimmitt, where Hank taught, coached, and drove a school bus. Beyond his family, he blessed the lives of hundreds of kids with his humor, his stories, and his encouragement.

After retiring from teaching, Hank and Syd moved to Johnson City, Texas, to be closer to their two youngest granddaughters. They were involved every day in raising and teaching the girls as they grew up.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Syd, and brother Claudus Lynn. He is survived by son Kelly Lynn and wife Cyndi of Hico, Texas; daughter Leandy Pletcher, husband Matt, and granddaughter Millie, of Johnson City, Texas; daughter LuCydne Wittkohl, husband Billy, and granddaughter Sawyer, of Johnson City; granddaughter Amanda Carter and husband Sam of North Richland Hills, Texas; sister Evalee Fowler of Trail, British Columbia, Canada; sister Merine Fenley of Valiant, Oklahoma; sister Donella Sullivan of Bokchito, Oklahoma; brother Cecil Lynn of Bokchito, Oklahoma; sister Gondola Almond of Valiant, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.
