Petty

Dan Petty, a long-time resident of Dimmitt, passed away at 77 years of age on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024, in Lubbock. A family and friend visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements and Cremation services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Respectfully a Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Dan was born to his parents, Woodrow Calvin and Tommie Sue (Sisson) Petty in Amherst, Texas. He was raised in Dimmitt where he graduated from Dimmitt High School Class of 1966, after high school he attended West Texas State University. He proudly served our country in the United States Army Reserve for 6 consecutive years.

Dan developed a strong work ethic by working in the agriculture industry as a farmer for most of his life. Dan enjoyed fishing, golfing, and being outdoors. He loved to watch old Western shows especially ‘Gun Smoke’. Dan will be remembered for his many talents.

Those left to carry on his legacy are his children, Kevin Petty and his wife Shelly of Seminole, Texas, Dennis Petty and his wife Tachana of Gillette, Wyoming; his grandchildren, Cole, Grant and wife Shelby, Madison Baca and her husband Colton, Kalvin and one greatgrandchild, baby boy blessing on the way; his siblings, Sherlon Dyer and husband Ed of Robinson, Texas, Arlie Petty and wife Barbara of Canyon, Texas, and Jeanne White of Dimmitt, Texas.

His parents, Calvin and Tommie Sue Petty preceded him in passing.
