Phillips

Mary Sue Phillips passed from this life on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 86 years in Dimmitt, Texas. Sue was the last of five children born to Elijah Horace and Mildred Ethel (Shaw) Moody on Nov. 3, 1938, in Marysville, Texas. She grew up in Bovina, Texas and graduated with the class of 1957. She moved to Dimmitt in September of 1969 and has made her home here since.

Sue was one of many talents. She could paint the most beautiful windmills and so many different versions of Santa Claus. Many have been gifted with her painted Santa Clauses. Sue was also avid at handwork such as cross-stitch and crochet. She cross-stitched so many “last names” for people as her way of letting them know that she cared about them. She crocheted countless pairs of Moo shoes for her grandsons over the years. The boys were always excited for Christmas to come for a new pair.

Sue worked as a homemaker for many years when the girls were younger but started working outside the home when she was asked by Geneva Schaeffer to help in her craft store. She also worked for Laqueta Hill in her store, as well, as Sue was very artistic. In 1978, she found her work home at B & W Aerial Spray for 39 years before retiring in December of 2017. She also worked for 15 years, in the evenings and weekends, at the Country Club in Dimmitt. Sue met many people along the way. If she knew your birthday or anniversary, you always received a call every year. No telling how many calls she made over the years.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Louise Hawkins andYvonne Stevenson, her brothers, Weldon Moody and Alfred Moody, and one grandson, Jansen Noel Flowers.

Left to survive Sue are her daughters, Kay Du-Laney and her husband, Joe Brad, of Bossier City, Louisiana, and Lou Langdon and her husband, Brian of Levelland, Texas; five grandsons, Dallas DuLaney (Teri Melick) of Bossier City, Lousisiana, Chace DuLaney (Jordan) of Bossier City,Brady DuLaney (Victoria) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Kelton Flowers (Bayley) of Brownfield, Texas, and Dagon Flowers (Morgan) of Midland, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Jack DuLaney, Henry DuLaney and George Du-Laney, all of Bossier City, Flowers of Midland, and Rome DuLaney of Shreveport.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Lana Moody, of Dallas, Texas; two step granddaughters, Amanda Stapp (Rickey) and their children, Paytyn and Kamdyn of Idalou, and Katie Maupin (Jake) and their children, Kyndall, Adeline, and Tilley of Lubbock; and several nephews and nieces. Special friends that have always been there for Sue are Dominga Esqueda (Joel), Valeria Davis, Kay Conyers and Genell Craig all of Dimmitt.

A ”Thank You” goes out to the staff at Country View Living and BSA Hospice for making her days better and keeping her comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue’s memory to First Baptist Church, 1201 Western Circle, Dimmitt, Texas or Country View Living, 701 Butler Blvd., Dimmitt, Texas.
