Hart cheerleaders are ready for football season. This year Paisley Reyna Mata, Diana Longoria, Elycia Gonzales, Priscilla Gagnard, Nina Barron, Roylynn Gonzales and Brianna Nalley will bringing spirit to the Longhorn fans.

Griner sentenced to nine years in prison

A Russian court sentenced Brittney Griner to nine years in prison and a $9 million ruple fine ($145,161.36 US) after finding her guilty of bringing cannabis-infused vape cartridges into Russia. Cannabis is illegal in Russia for both medicinal and recreational.

Naz Boy Scouts selling casseroles

The Nazareth Boy Scout Troop #265 will be selling frozen casseroles to help raise money for the opportunity for several of the boys to attend the Philmont Scout Ranch in the summer of 2023.

DISD School Supply Drive underway The annual DISD School Supply Drive is underway and has five convenient drop off points. The drive will run through Aug. 25.

Swifts baseball players receive honors

Two Nazareth Swifts baseball players made the BLUE BELL/ Texas Sports Writers Association Class A All-State Baseball Team. To be selected, players may be nominated by coaches or sports writers. First team pick from Nazareth was pitcher Trent Gerber, senior.

Dimmitt XC hits the training trail

Dimmitt XC has begun conditioning for the 2022 season and will hitting the streets of Dimmitt near the high school at 7:30 a.m. Though the DHS team lost some excellent runners who graduated, there remains several veterans, as well as some promising hopefuls, who will step to meet the challenge.

Chamber golf tourney gearing up for August

Preparations are being made for the annual Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament to be held on Aug. 13 Ṫhe 4-person scramble will be held at Dimmitt Recreation and will include a meal for each golfer. There will be 9:30 a.m. ball drop and 10 a.m. tee time.
