The hospitalization rate for Trauma Service Area B (Lubbock region) was at 22.29 percent on Tuesday, putting Lubbock over 15 percent hospitalization for 72 days.

The city of Lubbock confirmed 397 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), 91 recoveries and four additional deaths that day. The total cumulative number of cases in Lubbock County is 41,603, with 3,506 active, 37,555 listed as recovered and 542 total deaths.

According to Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-32, all restaurants, retail stores, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, gyms, exercise facilities and classes, museums, and libraries in all counties in Trauma Service Area B are required to return to maximum 50 percent occupancy levels, except in any county that separately qualifies for the greater occupancy levels because it has minimal cases of COVID-19 under the Department of State Health Services attestation process.

Additionally, all licensed hospitals in the Trauma Service Area are required to discontinue elective surgeries.

The order would remain in place until such time as Trauma Service Area B has seven consecutive days in which the number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients as a percentage of total hospital capacity is 15 percent or less.
