Bobbies win THSWPA regionals

The Dimmitt Bobbies Powerlifting team won the Texas High School Womens Powerlifting Association Regional 3AS team honors and will have four lifters advancing to the THSWPA state championships. The regional meet was held in Shamrock this past weekend.

Dimmitt High School Bobbies powerlifters qualifying to go to the THSWPA state meet include senior Yazmin Barron, first in 198 wt. class; sophomore Kimberly Solis, second in 198 wt. class; sophomore NaKhiyah Porras, first in 220 wt. class; and junior Allysun Jones, first in the 259+ wt. class. The Bobbies powerlifting team is coached by Aimee Broom.

The state championship will be held in Corpus Christi from March 16 -19. The 3AS (3A small schools) will compete on March 17, according to the TWSWPA itinerary, with competition beginning at 8 a.m. Weigh in will be 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. The meet will be held at American Bank Center Exhibit Hall.
