Dimmitt cross country teams competed at the District 3A Meet on Tuesday, scoring some solid wins and advancing several to the next level.

The top three high school teams and the top 10 individuals qualify to compete at the Regional Meet on Oct. 25 in Lubbock.

The Bobcats varsity boys’ team was the number one team in their division which had five schools and 40 runners. Dimmitt beat Denver City, Brownfield, Friona and Littlefield for the top placing.

Individually, Dimmitt had four runners in the top five of the field and five in the top 10.

Senior Azariah Gonzalez came in with an outstanding performance, winning the boys varsity 3-mile run with a time of 16:32.25. Freshman Erik Lopez snagged a third place with a time of 18:17.99; sophomore Xayvion Gonzalez placed third at 18:36.60; junior David Fuentes scored a fifth place with a time of 18:36.60; and junior Emiliano Peralta came in ninth with a time of 19:07.39.

The Bobbies cross country came in third as a team in their 3-mile run among the six competing schools and 45 runners. Muleshoe claimed top team honors, Denver City, second, Brownfield, fourth, Lamesa, fifth, and Friona, sixth.

Individually, freshman Frida Madrigal was the top runner for the Bobbies in seventh place with a time of 13:57.20, advancing her to Regionals.

Bobcats JV runner Frankie Cortez, freshman, won that division with a time of 19:57.92; and Ismael Chavez, freshman, placed seventh with a time of 22:41.39.

Dimmitt Middle School runners also competed in the 2mile runs.

The DMS Bobcats were among the 39 runners from four schools and placed third as a team. Victor Lozano, 7th grade, was the top runner for his team with a time of 13:23.65.

The DIMS Bobbies came in second as a team, with Gravitt taking first, Watson, third, Brownfield, fourth, and Littlefield, fifth.

Top DMS Bobbies were Saydi Rosas, eighth grade, who placed third with a time 15:03.20, and Lily Rodriguez, eighth grade, placed seventh with a time of 15:30.04.
