There were cheers at Plains Memorial Hospital emergency room, as the staff and Castro County EMS crews and Director Paul Garza did a countdown to activation on June 30 at 6 p.m. bringing the county EMS officially online. CHS regained control of services recently, with AMR being a backup rather than primary server. All 911 medical calls will be handled locally in the future.
