Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery Association is seeking help from the public in locating possible absentee lot owners.

According to Delores Heller, there are early records dating before 1920 to 1950, notations were made indicating possible claim to cemetery lots without any paper trail or proof of payment. The cemetery board is making every effort to make contact with these families. Many letters, phone calls, record searches and personal inquiries have been pursued.

On the list are C.J. Terrell (William Melton 1885-1915, Don Ray White 1934, Morgan Family (no date known), Hale Family 1934,1953,1954 burials, Huff Family (no dates available), and Lewis Longan (no dates known).

Heller said any information or possible relatives to these family names would be helpful since deeds were not issued prior to 1955 and families may have moved, leaving lots unused. In some cases, an infant or spouse was buried, and the family name may have been placed on the remaining lots in the block.

Should anyone have any knowledge of these early settler family names, please contact Delores Heller at 647-2655, Charles Summers at 647-2502, or any board member to assist in resolving the questions.
