Adverse Circumstances

Pam is pampered; my guess is that you are too.

I have safe shelter; sufficient food, clothing, electricity, heat & air and indoor plumbing. I’m currently dealing with extreme winter weather conditions here in the Deep South.

Our current wind chill is 1 degree. It’s hard to be content.

Apostle Paul wrote of learning contentment.

“Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with little, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me (Philippians 4:11-13 NASB).”

The LORD strengthened Paul through adverse circumstances.

“Are they servants of Christ?—I am speaking as if insane—I more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death. Five times I received from the Jews thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, a night and a day I have spent adrift at sea. I have been on frequent journeys, in dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my countrymen, dangers from the Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, dangers among false brothers; I have been in labor and hardship, through many sleepless nights, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure (2 Corinthians 11:23-27 NASB).”
