Ag Queen entry deadline nears

It’s not to late to get entered.

Entries and information for the Castro County Ag Queen & Princess Contest will be due on Nov. 19.

Entrants from Nazareth, Dimmitt and Hart FFA Chapters, as well as Castro County 4-H members are eligible to enter.

Queen contestants should be 10-13 years old at the beginning of school and must live in the county. Additionally, a resume and 500-word essay on “Why Ag Programs Are Important” will be turned in by Nov. 19, along with a photo. A requirement is to have a livestock project at the Castro County Stock Show.

Princess contestants should be 14-18 years old at the beginning of school and must live in the county. Additionally, a resume and 300-word essay on “Challenges of Animal Projects” will be turned in by Nov. 19, along with a photo. A requirement is to have a livestock project at the Castro County Stock Show.

Judging will be done outside the county and have no live interviews due to COVID-19. The resume and essay will be submitted to judges with an assigned number (no names) for judging. Winners will be announced at the Castro County Stock Show on Friday, Jan. 15.
