Castro County Hospital District announced the purchase of Dimmitt Pharmacy effective April 15,according to CEO, Elisha Rosier. Rosier noted this has been a thorough and thoughtful process which started in September 2023 when CCH approached owners Jon and Niki Riddle.

According to Rosier, Dimmitt and the surrounding area have been blessed by Dimmitt Pharmacy over the years and CCHDis excited to continue the high quality of service that they have provided, adding a strong motivator for purchasing Dimmitt Pharmacy is the ability to add additional services, which are in great need to our community, through the integration with a hospital district.

RosiernotedthattheRiddles were very gracious to work with throughout the process. A third- party appraisal wascompletedand a fair market value was assessed by VMG prior to the sale. The board of directors have been involved since the beginning and have been very supportive.

Jim Bradford, board president stated, “We appreciate everything that Jon and Niki have done for this community and for having the confidence in the district to continue their tremendous legacy in serving the citizens of Castro County.”

Rosier said the transfer from Dimmitt Pharmacy to CCH was seamless and transparent taking place on April 15. The current staff have been hired by CCH and will remain employees at Dimmitt Pharmacy. There are no plans to change the pharmacy name.

New changes being con- sidered are limited home delivery of medications and a drive through window for prescription medications, as well as providing vaccinations that are not allowed to be given in a Rural Health Clinic.

The 340B drug program will remain in place which provides tremendous value to under-insured or non-insured residents. The retail side will also remain in place with Niki Riddle providing her expertise with quality gifts, clothing and accessories.

The Riddles purchased Dimmitt Pharmacy from Garland Coleman in 2001. Jon noted that it immediately felt like home as the community welcomed them with open arms. They said Dimmitt was a wonderful place to raise their children. Jon also commented on how very fortunate they were to have had some great employees over the years. Maryanne Carrasco and June Ewing have been with Jon since the beginning. Jon stated it has been enjoyable to have young students work for the pharmacy and get to know them and then follow their accomplishments over the years.

Additionally, Jon said that without a strong hospital district and board of directors, it would be impossible to have a successful pharmacy, saying he has been able to work closely with the current and previous administrations to enhance both parties and ensure healthcare access to the residents of Castro County. While Castro County has a thriving hospital district, not all small counties in Texas do and he believes that is a true testament to the administration, board, and employees past and present.

The Riddles’ future plans include continuing to chase their grandkids.

The Riddles and Dimmitt Pharmacy have been true friends to CCH and the community.
