Eight plead guilty in district court

Eight people pleaded guilty to their charges on May 26 in Judge Kregg Hukill’s district court at the Castro County courthouse.

Ricardo Castillo, 49 of Hereford, pleaded guilty to the charge of deadly conduct and discharge of firearm at individuals. His plea of guilt was set aside, and he was placed on two years of deferred adjudication proba tion, $1,000 fine, $325 court costs, attorney fees and $50 Crime Line Fee.

Lorenzo Ortiz, 23 of Dimmitt, pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of a controlled substance PG 1 under 1 gram. His plea of guilt was set aside, and he was placed on three years deferred adjudication probation, with a $1,000 fine, $325 court costs, attorney fees,

$50 Crime Line Fee, and was ordered by the court to pay $180 in restitution to the Texas DPS Crime Lab.

Monica Madrigal, 38 of Earth, pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of a controlled substance PG 1 over 1 gram-under 4 grams. She was sentenced to four years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division, but her sentence was probated for four years, with a $2,000 fine, $325 court costs, attorney fees, $50 Crime Line Fee, and was ordered by the court to pay $180 in restitution to the Texas DPS Crime Lab.

Oliver Parlin, 29 of Lubbock, pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of a controlled Substance PG 2 over 400 grams. His plea of guilt was set aside, and he was placed on three years deferred adjudication probation, a $2,000 fine, $370 court costs, $50 Crime Line Fee and was ordered by the court to pay $180 in restitution to the Texas DPS Crime Lab.

Antonio Leal, 43 of Dimmitt, pleaded guilty to the charge of assault family/household member/impede circulation/breath. His plea of guilt was set aside, and he was placed on five years of deferred adjudication probation, a $2,000 fine, $325 court costs, and $50 Crime Line Fee.

Rubin Mark Danny Buskirk, 30 of Dimmitt, pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was sentenced to five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division, a $2,000 fine, $310 court costs, and attorney fees. He also pleaded true to violations of his probation on the original charge of criminal mischief over $2,500-under $30,000. His probation was revoked, and he was sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-State Jail Division.

Christopher Ben Barrera, 47 of Dimmitt, pleaded guilty to the charge of assault of a family/household member/impede circulation/breath. He was sentenced to five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division His sentence was probated for three years, a $2,000 fine, $325 court costs, and $50 Crime Line Fee.

Rene Contreras, 40 of Hereford, pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of a controlled substance PG 1 under 1 gram. He was sentenced to 18 months in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice-State Jail Division, but his sentence was probated for three years, a $2,000 fine, $325 court costs, attorney Fees, $50 Crime Line Fee and was ordered by the court to pay $180 in restitution to the Texas DPS Crime Lab.
