The Final Chapter

The stories of our lives develop slowly; first, an introduction and then following chapters. What will people read in my menu page; yours? The opening chapter might hook the reader. We’d all hope it was that one book that avid readers couldn’t put down. They’d continue on and through to the end.

I’m inspired by the life and legacy of Apostle Paul. I quote sections from his final chapter.

“For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hardpressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sakes (Philippians 1:21-24 NASB).”

Remain? Paul was prepared to die. He knew he’d be in the presence of God.

“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing (2 Timothy 4:6-8 NASB).”

The epilogue to Paul’s life is still being written today. The lives of people (of all ages) are being transformed through his written testimony and gospel message. Jesus saves!
