Hegar distributes $1B in sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.04 billion in local sales tax allocations for September, 13.1 percent more than in September 2021.

These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly.

Castro County increased by 32.30 percent sales tax revenue, receiving $23,011.

Dimmitt came in with a 57.98 percent increase over last year at $49,909.

Hart also increased by 15.66 percent and will receive $5,192 for this period.

Nazareth lost ground from last year by -30.24 percent and will receive $3,407.

Overall, Texas cities will receive $665.7 million, up from the previous year by 11.8 percent; transit systems, $223.5 million, a gain of 12.3 percent; counties, $62.4 million, up 16.1 percent; and special purpose districts, $94.5 million, up 13.1 percent.
