Hegar distributes $1B in sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for June, 2 percent more than in June 2022.

These allocations are based on sales made in April by businesses that report tax monthly.

Castro County saw a -17.52 percent drop in sales tax revenue for this time period compared to June 2022, receiving $19,301.

Dimmitt and Nazareth also saw decreases from last year. Dimmitt figures changed by -10.15 percent, receiving $32,363 this period. Nazareth dropped by -2.71 percent from the previous year, receiving $3,042.

Hart saw an increase in sales tax revenue by 4.59 percent over last June, receiving $5,284.

Overall, Texas cities receive $651.6 million, up from last year by 0.7 percent.

Counties were up by 2.1 percent and received $221.4 million.

Transit Systems were also up by 7 percent and received $221.4 million and Special Purpose Districts by 8.1 percent, receiving $97 million.
