In the last contest of the 2023 winter and spring season, the WTAMU Meat Judging team competed at the Houston Livestock Show and Intercollegiate Meat Judging Contest and won third place.

The WTAMU team place third overall, first and fifth in beef grading, first in total beef, second in lambs, first in pork, first and second in reasons and third in placings.

A member of the WTAMU team and graduate of Nazareth High School, Ryan Heitschmidt, placed fifth in lamb judging, second in pork judging, fifth in reason and third in total placings.

Other team members placing were Eli Eli Mathis, third in reasons, third in lamb, eighth in pork, nineth in beef and third in reasons; Colt Edrington, second place individual, fourth in beef grading, fourth overall beef, sixth in reasons, fifth in pork judging; Payton Ownbey, 10th high individual, first in beef grading and second overall beef; Madison Colvin, second in beef judging and seventh overall beef; Mikayla Hudnall, fourth in lamb and nineth in reasons; Bryce Hutson, eighth in specifications; Noah Harrell, second in total placings; JC Buentello, nineth in total placings; Megan Miller, tied for 10th in total beef.

Other team members included Caleb Olfers, Parker Franz, and Katelynn Welsh.

The WTAMU Meat Judging team is coached by Dr. Loni Lucherk, Megan Eckhardt and Will Boyd.
