I Want What God Wants for Me

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; Before they spring forth, I tell you of them. Isaiah 42:9 “I want what God wants for me.” As I read Lyndie’s post I was reminded of one of my life verses from the Bible: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” The truth of that statement is, it is, indeed, God who knows the plans he has for me but I don’t. God knows what he wants for me. Therefore, I need to obediently look for and track God’s plans without relying on my own ideas and strategies in life. And that is what God-tracking is all about.

Sometimes, God’s plans may lead us on a successful and prosperous path for many years. If we acknowledge God in all our ways, he will open the doors to productive work. I always say grace is God’s doing, and by his grace, he will equip us well with talents and skills to do the work he has called us to do. So, let’s do it well with all our might as unto him. However, there may be times when the Lord says, “Good job, my son but the job is done. Now it’s time to move on to new things.”

I have been active in an area of ministry for more than 40 years. Thankfully, it’s been very productive and anointed. I have seen many people grow in their understanding and experience of God in this area of Christian living. However, the Lord, according to the plans he knows he has for me, has recently said, “the former things have come to pass.” By this, I sensed the Lord telling me to lay down this aspect of ministry, after all these years in obedience to his leading. Now, by his grace, the Lord has opened a new door for me and I look forward to new blessings.

Perhaps you face a similar situation today. My encouragement to you is to continue to acknowledge the Lord in all you do, look to Jesus, and always seek to track what God wants for you.
