If you are tired of books that contain bad language, graphic sex, and gory violence, we here at Rhoads Memorial Library have been alerted to an adult fiction series that is touted as a “wholesome small-town romance series.” Also, as one of our favorite patrons mentioned, the author has ties to Dimmitt.

Virginia’dele Smith, the nom de plume of Ashli Montgomery, has written five installments in the Green Hills’ series. The daughter of Vickie (Lawson) Williams, who grew up in Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1969, Ashli notes that her pen name is derived from three cherished grandmothers: Syble Virginia (Tidwell) Lawson, Adele Gertrude Baylin, and Etta Jean Smith.

The five-book set, which is located in front of our circulation desk, is ready for checkout. The books, in order, are: -”Grocery Girl;” -”In the Trenches;” -”3 Times to Make Sure;” -”Take a Chance on Love;” -”Undeveloped Love.” As far as newly released books that have arrived and are ready for checkout, they include: -”Never Too Late” (a novel) by Danielle Steel; -”Still See You Everywhere” (a suspense novel) by Lisa Gardner; -”Sylvia’s Second Act” (a novel) by Hillary Yablan.

That last book, “Sylvia’s Second Act,” follows Sylvia, who knows her husband is cheating on her. She hates Boca; she is mad and she is not going to take it anymore. With her best friend, Evie, in tow, she’s moving to New York City. Critics call this story a “screwball comedy featuring a sophisticated Thelma and Louise with martinis in hand...”

-”Women of Good Fortune,” is the debut novel of Sophie Wan. The description from the book’s blurb notes: “set against a highsociety Shanghai wedding, a heartfelt, funny, dazzling novel about a reluctant bride and her two best friends, each with their own motives and fed up with the way society treats women, who forge a plan to steal all of the gift money on the big day...”

There are a few Young Scientists’ take-and-make kits left, ready for pick up. “Moon Sand” is featured in this month’s version of the popular kits, which are created by Felice Acker, local agent with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

Remember we will be closed on Good Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, in observance of Easter. We will re-open on Tuesday, April 2, at 9 a.m.

Until next week, Happy Reading!
