"Quick Quilts from the Heart" and "Easy Does It Quilts" are among many howto books that will be offered at Rhoads Memorial Library's annual book sale. The event is set for Jan. 26-30, as other items, such as audiobooks, movies, and music CDs will be offered, too.

In addition to quilting, craft books available feature crocheting, knitting, sewing, painting using acrylics and oils, woodworking, and photography. Large print books will be available, ranging from fiction to non-fiction that covers various topics.

If you are in the mood to learn a new language, we have some books providing German, Spanish, and even Latin instruction. Other books you can buy for a few cents cover topics of home remedies, humor, piano instruction, and American Indian history. Bibles, dictionaries, crossword dictionaries, and thesauruses (or if you prefer, thesauri).

Fiction offerings range from romance to westerns to mysteries to suspense/thrillers to historical novels. Children's books for all ages will be on sale, too.

If you do not wish to buy a book and would rather check one out from our collection, consider these newly released books:

"Neighbors" (a novel) by Danielle Steel;

"American Traitor" (a Pike Logan novel) by Brad Taylor;

"The Forever Girl" (the Wildstone series) by Jill Shalvis.

Another new release is "Olive Bright, Pigeoneer" by Stephanie Graves. The author, a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, has done extensive research on the littleknown roll of pigeons during World War II. Free of foul language and steamy sex scenes, this "clean" book follows 22-year-old Olive Bright in the small village of Pipley, England, as she tends to her beloved racing pigeons while working at her father's veterinary clinic.

When two members of a covert British intelligence organization approach Olive about using her pigeons to aid the war effort, she jumps at the chance. Unexpectantly, however, she becomes involved in a murder investigation when local busybody Miss Husselbee is found dead outside Olive's pigeon loft. Is this tragedy tied to Olive's new assignment or did Miss Husselbee finally uncover a secret so horrible that she was silenced?

We have been asked about when 2020 income tax forms should arrive, and we are GUESSING they will be here about Jan. 31. The IRS.gov website says they will start accepting and processing tax returns on Feb. 12.

Until next week, Happy Reading!
