Tax forms for the 2020 tax year have arrived here at Rhoads Memorial Library and can be found on a table in front of our circulation desk. Instruction booklets have been shipped, according to the IRS, and should be here any day. Both are free to the public.

Our annual book sale ended recently, and we were pleased that it surpassed our goal of selling at least three digits' worth of books and movies. Revenues were down by 44%, which would be dismal during a normal year, but we were glad to get as much as we did during a Pandemic, mostly at 25 to 50 cents at a time!

If you were unable to attend the sale, you still have a chance to peruse leftover items along with newly arrived donated items. We welcome you anytime during the year into our store room where you can "shop" to your heart's content. Cost of hardbacks remains at 50 cents each, while paperbacks are 25 cents. Movies are $2 each while audiobooks fetch $1.

The ability to checkout ebooks is one of the perks of having a library card in good standing through our library or any other member library of Harrington Library Consortium. Updates to a web-based app by the Bibliotheca CloudLibrary have occurred, effective Jan. 1, 2021, so the PC and MAC apps have been discontinued.

This means that, if you are having difficulties procuring an ebook or opening your device to the spot where you last read, then you probably need to get the new app. Go to www.harringtonlc.org and choose "ebook Help" from their dropdown menu and follow the instructions. This action should solve your problem but if not, call us at 647-3532 for additional help.

Newly released books that have arrived and are ready for checkout include:

"Egg Shooters" (a Cackleberry Club mystery) by Laura Childs;

"A Perfect Amish Romance" (a novel) by Shelley Shepard Gray;

"Hope, Faith, and a Corpse" (a novel) by Laura Jensen Walker.

A recent release that came out in October 2020, is "Greenlights" by Matthew McConaughey. Written by the Academy Award-winning actor and Texan, it is a New York Times bestseller. The book is advertised as "an unconventional memoir filled with raucous stories, outlaw wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living with greater satisfaction."

"Greenlights" is not the typical kind of book we offer our patrons as there is little interest shown locally for non-fiction. However, a few patrons did express interest in it so we purchased it for checkout. Another book we think

Another book we think would be interesting is Dolly Parton's "Songteller: My Life in Lyrics". It is a an oversized book that commands a higher price, so we have not bought it as we believe no one will check it out. If you would be interested in it, however, call us at 647-3532 or tell us via Facebook and we will order it. Until next week, Happy Reading!
