Newly released books that have arrived and are ready for checkout here at Rhoads Memorial Library include: -'Solito: A Memoir' by Javier Zamora details his harrowing journey from El Salvador to the U.S. via Guatemala and Mexico. Reuniting with his parents in the U.S. was the goal for the nineyear- old, who made the 3,000 mile, two-month-long trip alongside strangers.

The youngster encountered perilous boat trips, desert treks, guns pointed at him, arrests and deceptions, while also receiving acts of kindness at the most unexpected moments.

-'The Fire and the Ore,' a novel by Olivia Hawker, is set in 1857 and features Tamar Loader, who, with her family, survives a brutal pilgrimage from England to Utah to follow the call of their newfound Mormon faith. Tamar is set to unite with her destined husband, Thomas Ricks, but learns that he already has a wife and is betrothed to another. She and the two 'sisterwives' must learn to live with each other---literally and figuratively-- as they are forced to retreat into the hostile desert wilderness after the U.S. Army's invasion brings the Mormon community to heel. With little in common but the same man, the women must accept a new definition of family-- for survival.

-'The Notorious Texas Swindler: The Mastermind Behind the Grayson County Five' is a non-fiction account of Bob Leach, a conman, kidnapper, cattle rustler, stickup man, and more. Leach's life of crime included landing in a Comanche County courtroom on charges of larceny, then ending up in a Callahan County Jail from which he escaped.

Leach and his wife raked in millions via blackmail as they secretly photographed and videotaped guests participating in orgies at night at a party ranch. The lucrative enterprise ended when one of Leach's girlfriends contacted authorities. Leach's wife turned herself in and Leach went on the run.

He was captured and taken to the Grayson County Jail in Sherman, Texas, only to break out with four other inmates. Author Pepper Anne details Leach's activities as he evolved into a modern-day villain who became one of the most sought-after criminals in Texas history.
