A Lubbock County Detention Center officer was arrested on Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, specifically fentanyl.

Taylor Millett, 27, who had been a detention officer for about two years, was charged with after attempting to buy product from an undercover officer. The arrest was immediately made.

According to a report by the Lubbock Sheriff Kelly Rowe, who was on scene for the arrest, fentanyl is the most profitable and easiest drug to traffic in Lubbock, with drug dealers often using the substance to counterfeit ecstasy or Adderall.

Rowe said Millett is no longer working for the department.

In a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office, it stated, “The Sheriff’s Office requires that our employees demonstrate the highest degree of integrity and will not tolerate any violation of the law by any employee. We take this matter very seriously and intend to pursue all appropriate charges.”

There is still an on-going investigation.
