Unemployment rates were lower in April in 14 states and stable in 36 states and the District of Columbia, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics U-3 report on May 19.
The national unemployment rate, 3.4 percent on the U-3 report, was little changed from March. The U3 is the standard chart used by the U.S. government.
