Unity in Community

Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.

1 Timothy 4:12 NLT

As the day of high school graduation passes, many families find themselves wrestling with an uncertain future. Whether going into the workforce, joining the military, or attending college, many young men and women from all over the country are stepping out into a world of unknowns. Will they find success or struggle?

Facing change is never easy but without change we are doomed to a life of mediocrity. Don’t get me wrong. Many parents do an outstanding job raising their children in preparation for what is to come but we still must let them go. By letting our children go out into the world and face change we help them grow. Even if a child stays home and takes over the family business, by engaging new opportunities in the world a child develops responsibility, confidence, and maturity.

To all the young men and women that are hesitantly perched on the edge of the nest, take flight! At times you may fall but in the end you will be better for such experiences. Remember, you will always have a community cheering you on from a distance and willing to offer you safety from the dangerous winds when necessary. Go and live your life as an example of all the things you have been given. May God’s grace and peace guide you on this step in your amazing journey.
