Well with her soul

Are you worried?

Doctors diagnose both young and old with anxiety disorders. Stress affects school age children as frequently as conglomerate CEO ladder climbers. Worrying is such a waste of my time and energy. What does it accomplish?

“And which of you by worrying can add a single day to his life’s span (Matthew 6:27 NASB)?”

Mathematically, worry subtracts years and divides marriages and families. How can I meet the needs of others when I’m self-absorbed with worry and fear? The LORD spoke against worry about the future. Am I listening?

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own (Matthew 6:34 NASB).”

‘One Day at a Time’ is more than a popular song; it’s good advice.

I love the mindset of an Old Testament mother. Worry wouldn’t help when her son died; trusting God did. She went to see Prophet Elijah; he told his servant Gehazi to ask…“Is it going well for you? Is it going well for your husband? Is it going well for the child?’ Then she answered, ‘It is going well (2 Kings 4:26b NASB).”

It would be well with her soul!

God gave Elijah miraculous power. He restored life to the boy.

“Then he returned and walked in the house back and forth once and went up and bent down on him; and the boy sneezed seven times, then the boy opened his eyes. And he called Gehazi and said, ‘Call this Shunammite.’ So, he called her. And when she came to him, he said, ‘Pick up your son.’Then she came in and fell at his feet and bowed down to the ground, and she picked up her son and left (2 Kings 4:3537 NASB).”
