Man arrested in second Trump assassination attempt

A second alleged attempt was made on presidential nominee Donald Trump this past weekend at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida.Ryan Wesley Routh, the alleged 58-year-old gunman, was spotted with an AK-style rifles with a scope about 300 to 500 yards away from Trump.

Sheriff presents report to commissioners

Sheriff Sal Rivera presented his August call report and racial profiling report for the period to the Commissioners Court on Sept. 9.Sheriff Rivera reported there were 173 total calls for service this past August to all entities in Castro County.

South Plains region rattled by 5.1 earthquake

Parts of the Texas South Plains were slightly rocked by a 5.1 magnitude earthquake Monday evening around 7:50 p.m.According to the U.S. Geological Survey, it was one of the strongest in the state’s history.The quake struck occurred in Martin County, about 21 miles southwest of Ackerly.

Hegar distributes $1.1B sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for September, 6.3 percent more than in September 2023.
