Weather balloon crashes near Morton

First responders from Whiteface VFD and Morton Fire Department, along with some Levelland units, went on a research weather balloon chase on Aug. 17, tracking what was thought to be runaway ballon filled with helium and nitrogen.
Naz FFA closed out the summer at the Sigma Alpha Summer Showdown with Gabby Heck winning Champion Hereford. Hadlee Hoelting won Reserve AOC and 5th overall steer and Chandler Hoeltingwon Reserve Polled Hereford.

Too many pet owners ignore their pets leaving them to roam, tossing them in the backyard or starving and abusing them.As human beings, we have a responsibility to treat all creatures with kindness and respect. This includes not only our fellow humans but also the animals that share our planet.
Area youngsters’ photography efforts are on display for the month of August 2024 at Rhoads Memorial Library, including Castro County 4-H Spencer Acker, son of Felice and Dwight Acker of Nazareth. Display for the month of August 2024, here at Rhoads Memorial Library contains photos taken by some members of Castro County 4-H. The photos capture the image of items found throughout the county, with subjects ranging from people to inanimate objects to flora and fauna.

It is that time of year when cities, counties, school boards determine upcoming tax rates for property taxes. Locally, public meetings are being announced as tax increase proposals arise and local government budgets are being finalized.Texas as a state does not have a property tax.
