Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for July, 0.2 percent less than in July 2023.These allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.

Oliver Meador, from Nazareth and a member of the Castro County 4-H shooting sports team competed at the 2024 Texas State Shoot and was the B Class High Overall shooter. He was also selected to the Texas State Team for the Sub-Junior category.

Meeting on wildlife refuge expansion set

A landowner’s education meeting will be held in Littlefield, Texas on July 25 at 7.p.m to discuss the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) decision to acquire 700,000 private acres to enlarge the 6,440-acre Muleshoe Federal Wildlife Refuge.
The Terrific Tuesday Library program saw participants reading the Bad Seed. Castro County Extension Agent Felice Acker assisted youth in making sunflower seed butter, testing different varieties of sunflower seeds, making seed bits and making chalk and decorating the sidewalk of the library which included a hopscotch path. There are two weeks left for Terrific Tuesday is completed.
