Last Thursday, Jon Garland from Whiteface Ford in Hereford presented DHS football player Tony Salazar with the Built Ford Tough Player of the Week Award. The award was based on the game against the Highland Park Hornets where Salazar came in with 396 yards on 23 attempts and seven touchdowns. DHS head coach Johnny Nino joined Salazar at the presentation. Salazar was also named All-District 1st Team Running Back this season.

Abbott signs bills deterring illegal immigration

Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday signed into law three bills that pour more money into his three-year effort to deter illegal immigration at the Texas-Mexico border and give Texas law enforcement authority to arrest undocumented immigrants anywhere in the state. Senate Bill 3 earmarks $1.

The Pink Ladies, Top of the Hill and Dimmitt Ladies Golf made a donation to the Castro County Sheriff’s Office Toy Drive “In loving memory of the lives that will never be forgotten.” The toy drive will be providing Christmas gifts to many children in Castro County.
