According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, there are 400 confi rmed measles cases in the South Plains region since late January; 41 of those patients hospitalized.Lubbock health officials in late February, confi rmed the first death from the outbreak,(the first since 2015).

Abbott launches NARCAN locator map

Governor Greg Abbott announced the launch of an online interactive map by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) that pinpoints where Texans can acquire for free or purchase life-saving Naloxone (NARCAN) as part of the statewide “One Pill Kills” campaign.
Western Circle Drive got a new coat of asphalt, with road construction that began on March 13. Bermea Construction was in charge of the project and some streets going into the area were closed off for a couple of weeks. Richard Bermea said he thanked the residents for having such patience and adhering to the road closures and inconveniences which affected school traffic.

State reports $3.68B sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.68 billion in March, 2.7 percent less than in March 2024. The majority of March sales tax revenue is based on sales made in February and remitted to the agency in March.
