The display for the months of June and July here at Rhoads Memorial Library reflects the theme of our summer reading program, “All Together Now!” The exhibit is the epitome of teamwork as youngsters Alizay, Anahi, Ava, and Andre Oltivero loaned some of their toys (whether they knew it or not!) to our library’s own Sulema Oltivero (their great-grandmother), who arranged a display featuring characters of various ethnicities and backgrounds getting along with one another.

Castro County Sheriff’s Office Persons Arrested & Booked into Jail May 27 to June 13 All information of persons arrested and booked into the Castro County Jail are open records: May 27 Atev La Naee Van Zandt, 30 of Amarillo, was arrested by the Dimmitt Police for Fail to Identify Fugitive from Justice and on two warrants for DWI and Robbery. John David Snapp, 44 of Roaring Springs, was arrested by the Dimmitt Police for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 over 1 gram-under 4 grams; Unlawful Carrying a Weapon; and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

New TxDOT project includes Castro

Work on a $383,000 Texas Department of Transportation project to add rumble strips and striping to FM 1585 in Lubbock and Hockley counties and SH 194 in Castro County was scheduled to begin June 14. Contractor L&L Company, from Gardendale, Texas, will start work along FM 1585 in Lubbock County.

Hegar distributes $1B in sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.03 billion in local sales tax allocations for June, 2 percent more than in June 2022.
