USDA ban on imported cattle affects Texas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has for the last six weeks, banned Mexican cattle imports since November after a parasite known as screwwormwas discovered on a cow near Mexico’s border with Guatemala.

Sheriff’s Office urges preparations for freezing weather

Sheriff Sal Rivera is urging residents of the county to be prepared as extreme cold weather temperatures will be arriving this Saturday and are expected to last through Jan. 23.The Castro County Sheriff’s Office lobby will be open as a warming station beginning Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. through Jan.
