USDA ban on imported cattle affects Texas

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has for the last six weeks, banned Mexican cattle imports since November after a parasite known as screwwormwas discovered on a cow near Mexico’s border with Guatemala.
TxDOT crews driving snowplows or maintainers were kept busy last Thursday clearing snow off of highways, with snow falling faster than the clearing. Schools, county and city offices, medical centers and businesses were closing early due to winter storm conditions.
