Kress Evacuated due to Fire

Fires flared up near Kress on Monday afternoon. The first fire was reported near US Highway 87 and County Road Z. The City of Kress was evacuated before 4:00 for the safety of the citizens. A second fire quickly developed between Kress and Tulia east of I-27.The high wind that gusted to 55 MPH pushed the flames quickly to the northeast.
