Kerry Layne Struve

 1947-2026

Kerry L. Struve began his adventure of life on May 8, 1947, to W. V. “Bill” and Florene Struve of Springlake, Texas. The family moved to the farming community of Easter, Texas in the early 1960’s where his foundation of farming and faith took root. Both parents preceded him in death but not before they provided a sturdy foundation.

He graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1965. Kerry met and married Ellen Jane Self on November 11, 1968. Together they raised two daughters, Cami and Kylia. He is survived by his wife, Ellen, his daughters, Cami, and Kylia and her spouse, Mark; four grandchildren, Brenden James, Meridian, Brooklyn, and Carson Matthews; three great grandchildren, Rhena and Zella James, and Timberland Fitzpatrick-Matthews; and his sister, Kita Hargrove, her husband Cliff; their children and grandchildren and his numerous close family members and friends.

His life was one of never being still, planted deep within his spirit was a sense of adventure that led to an abundance of experiences. He encouraged us to travel, and never take the same road twice. If you crossed Kerry’s path of adventure, you’re sure to have been touched by his generosity. He was generous with his love, friendship, encouragement, and time.

Deeply rooted in agriculture along with his common sense; Kerry had the drive to make a living, provide for his family, and assist cattlemen in feeding their herd more efficiently.

Kerry cherished the time he spent with his family. In the final days of his adventure of life he assured his loving family, “I am okay with this, I have lived well and happy and I hope you all can do the same.” It is because of his resolve, we rest.

Kerry’s presence and impact will be truly missed. No service is planned at this time. For those who wish to send more than condolences, Kerry asked that, in memory of Mamaw and Papaw Struve, donations be made to Western Heritage Cowboy Church, 7146 FM 1283, Pipe Creek, Texas 78063.
