The Texas unemployment rate rose to 8.3 percent in September, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
The Amarillo Metropolitan Statistical Area had the lowest adjusted rate of 5.1 percent, followed by the College Station-Bryan at 5.5 percent. Abilene recorded the third lowest rate of 5.9 percent.
