San Juan D. Martinez, 82, of Dimmitt, Texas passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 in Lubbock. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:30AM in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Nino and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at 6:00PM at the church with vigil service to follow.
San Juan Martinez was born on March 8, 1939 in San Benito, Texas to Leonardo Martinez and Guadalupe (Servantez) Martinez. San Juan grew up in San Benito and then moved to Dimmitt around the age of 16. San Juan began working for Dimmitt Compress and eventually worked for AMSTAR and then the City of Dimmitt. San Juan married Elidia Barrera in 1962 in Dimmitt and they had 4 children. San Juan en-joyed listening to music, dancing, and watching the Dallas Cowboys while also enjoying taking care of his chickens, lambs and his goat, Ruby. But most of all he loved being around his grandchildren and granddaughter. He was a longtime faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
San Juan is survived by his four children, Rosa Linda Martinez of Dimmitt, Rebecca Martinez of Dimmitt, Janie Martinez and husband of Dimmitt and Juan Martinez Jr. of Lubbock, 13 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Elidia Martinez along with 9 siblings.
